Your son has expressed his desire to attend Hogwarts School of Magic and has watch all of the Harry Potter DVD’s until he can recite every line word for word.
It should come as no surprise that your aspiring wizard wishes to dress up as Harry Potter for Halloween. You can create a Harry Potter costume for your child without busting your budget.
Begin with a black under robe, by locating an old black dress or a left over costume from years gone by. The effect you wish to achieve is a tunic style robe.
Now for the cape, go to your local fabric shop and go directly to the sale bin, often times you can find material for $2 a yard, all you will need is approximately 3 yards. Another way to save money is use any piece of dark material, again, preferably black that you or a family member may have lying about.
Head out to the dollar store, find, and browse thru the sunglasses. Once locate a suitable style, preferably round with metal frame, and remove the lenses.
Harry’s wand can be easily fabricated for with out spending a cent, by taking a walk in your back yard, locate a stick, about a foot in length and it should be straight. Remove the bark and voila instant wand.
Apply a bit of lipstick or fact paint in the shape of a lightening bolt for the scar that Harry has on his forehead, and before you know it, you are staring at Harry Potter himself.
Popular character costumes such as Harry Potter certainly do not have to cost a small fortune, with a lot of creativity and a small budget you would be amazed at the wide array of ways in which to indulge your child’s fantasy and keep from becoming economically challenged.
