Paying bills is not a favored aspect of our daily lives; however, it is a chore none of us can escape. However, thru the use of technology the time in which we spend paying our bills can certainly be reduced. Another benefit to using an electronic method of payment is to avoid any late payment fees or over the limit fees, that may result from a misplaced bill.

As with most tasks, there are a few things to consider before taking the plunge into a newer way of handling an old task.

If you decide to pay your bills on line or via a phone transfer you need to inquire about the fees, if any that are associated with this method of payment.

Once you are aware of any fees, you will want to ask how long it will take that payment to post. In some cases, this happens almost instantaneously and in other cases, it may take up to 7 to 10 days.

Another highly important issue to consider is security. In this day and age identity theft is a real concern. Some banks charge a fee for added security measures. Depending on the fee, it may be well worth the extra few dollars each month, if for nothing else but peace of mind it will provide you.

For the most part paying your bills online is a relatively quick and painless process. However, glitches can occur and in the event that an error is made, it may take a bit of time, to get the matter resolved. In cases like this patience is truly a virtue, stay calm, cool and collected eventually it will all work out.

One last thing to keep in mind are fees the creditors may charge to process online payments, it is in your best interest to contact those companies you wish to pay electronically and inquire about the fees involved. If by chance, you happened to overlook this step you can always contact the company and explain you were not aware of the fee and chances are they will be more than happy to waive the fee for you. Please keep in mind that you will certainly get more flies with honey than you will with vinegar. Being, calm and polite will produce the results you desire.
