Showing your love: say NO to spending

While having a baby, everybody wants to make the best parents. Trying to give our child the best education, enough money for his wishes we often forget about the fundamental in parenting-showing our love. Love is supported not by material things but by true and honest devotion. If you have a tot at home and don‘t know how to show your love, try the following ideas. Love doesn‘t cost anything, does it?

If your baby is 0-6 months

It is very important to communicate with your little one from the very first day of his life. You should always hold your baby while feeding him. Avoid bottle propping as much as possible. What you should do more is look in the mirror with your tot for a few minutes every day. While doing it, say his name frequently. The eye contact is also basic- always look into his eyes with love and care. You should pray and read him aloud. Don‘t forget to respond to his cries! Always!

If your baby is 6-12 months

During these months, you should start letting your tot holding small things like spoon or cup by himself. You shouldn’t be surprised if your baby grabs, pours, touches things or puts them into his mouth. It shows that your tot is starting to face the world surrounding him. Try to teach him some words and it is advisable to start from the body parts. You should always be positive and smiling with your baby- this will proof safety. Present some music to your newly born by singing songs and playing peek-a-boo together. You should also bath and take your baby to bed every day at the same time.

If your baby is 12-24 months

It is time to give some freedom to your baby. Freedom here means a right to choose. You should never force him to do thing he doesn‘t want to, for example, to hug someone. You should offer simple choices whenever it is possible. Moreover, let some (but not too much) independence and separation of your child. At this moment of life a baby should feel particularly wanted and helpful in the family. You can achieve this by displaying his artworks on the refrigerator or by including your tot in small daily works like sorting laundry, wiping dishes, etc.

If your baby is 3-5 years

Understand your child‘s wish to feel independent- it is normal. You should show your authority, as a part of language and social development, but don‘t overlook. It is time to teach your child a little bit of independence in his daily life – encourage him to dress without your help, brush his teeth, wash and dry his hands himself. Compliment him on his good works and make him feel self-confident. Give some free time every day for him to play and don‘t over-schedule the life of your child. Preschooler usually likes to discover things by himself so don‘t rush him. Read with him aloud or let him to read for you.

Making good parents means long and hard work. If you start form the very first steps of your tot‘s life, everything will be easier later. Don’t expect anything from your child- let him become a man he wants to become. Your part here is to teach and nurture him in the best way. With true love, you will.
