War on Waste

Above: we can do it!

Its time to plan, 2008 is on the horizon, here are some tip in planning you finances

  1. Make a written plan on paper, calculate your monthly expenses with and excel spreadsheet, its an easy way to monitor and take an overview of everything.
  2. Make a mental plan, do not be to hard on yourself, life is meant to be living, be sensible, take out things that are not essential, for example smoking, this will cost you your health and wealth in the long term.
  3. Pay the high interest loans first, cut up the credit cards, to transfer loans from one card to the next can work in the short term, but believe me, it can catch up with you in long term, people tend to be overtly optimistic about income streams.
  4. Use public transport when possible,
  5. Do a cost benefit analysis, for example driving a few miles to save a few cents on petrol, is it worth your time and money?
  6. Create a screen save on computer that will remind you of your budgeting commitments.
  7. Only buy what you can afford, do not spend money that you do not have.
  8. Look at ways of cutting costs, make the shift, for example using Voip instead of a normal landline, cutting down on connection.
  9. Give up take aways and eating in restaurants, if you eat 4 times a weeks out, cut it down to lets say one time, learn to cook, you can save a lot.
