Budgeting for Halloween
Part 2
To create Dr. Frugal’s Face Paint mix 2 tsp cornstarch, 1 tsp water, and 1 tsp cold cream. Divide the above mixture in half and add desired color. The above is enough to produce to colors.
Fake Blood can be made by using 2/3 of a cup of white corn syrup, red food coloring, a few drops of blue food coloring (2-3 drops) and a dash of liquid soap. The liquid soap helps the blood to run.
Create Budget bruises by applying red and blue eye shadow to skin. This will give the bruises a fresh appearance. For bruises with an aged look, apply yellow and blue shadow. A great way to save the money on eye shadow is to experiment with Dr. Frugal’s face paint.
Cheap scrapes can be achieved by applying red and black shadow to the skin. Using a Q-tip or cotton ball apply a small amount of budget blood. Then gently scratch the area with a comb in one direction. For a finishing touch, dust some cocoa onto the area.
Now it is time to turn our attention to the treats. Inexpensive is the theme for this Booffet. Let your ghosts and goblins begin the day with a serving of brains. Scramble up some eggs; add yellow, blue and green food coloring and instant Brain food. Do not forget the slime toast; give our toast the green slime appearance by brushing a combination of milk and green food coloring, then toast as usual.
Another budget friendly menu item is Snail Slime. Mix up some lime Jell-O before it has set up, you may add gummy worms for added affect. Neatness does not count while serving this yummy treat. To get the true slime affect you will almost have to smear the concoction onto the plate, experiment to get desired results.
For a cost effective beverage, mix green food coloring with lemonade for a toxic tonic your little ghosts will love. Besides being very budget friendly, this drink lets you control the amount of sugar being added.
As you can see, it is quite possible to have a Halloween gala on a shoestring budget. Congratulations you have successfully managed to turn saving money and cutting corners into an art form.
