Saving Money as a Good Hobby

December 3, 2007

Not all people have the ability of saving or to save or spend their money wisely. Oftentimes they end up just buying what they want, or spending their money the way they used to spend it.

Here are the tips I can share with you to make saving a good and fun habit at the same time.

  • Don’t put pressure into yourself. Yes, it would be great if you could maintain the same amount of savings everyday. But don’t worry, spending $1.54 in a meal today as compared to yesterday’s $1.52 won’t really hurt. You don’t need to follow a very strict rule here. Besides, those are your own rules.
  • Prepare a budget plan. Always make a budget plan. Even if it’s hard to do, it is much better if you have one.
  • Discover new ways of saving. There are a lot of suggestions you can get from your friends on how to save. You yourself can also work on experiments. Who knows, the best strategy that will work for you is just waiting to be unleashed.
  • Let your kids participate. Your children may be of great help, too. And, they would sure enjoy it as well. You can start by encouraging them to cut coupons. Giving them prices or rewards would be a sure motivating factor, too.

It may be a tedious process at the start, but eventually, saving would become part of your daily habits. When you do this, you will not only save more money for the family, you will also have another exciting hobby!
