Saving Your Family‘s Money
December 3, 2007
Maybe you have some financial problems? Maybe you don‘t, but just want to save some extra money? It is not as difficult as you have imagined. There is a list of small things you can do to raise the budget of your family while not spending a lot of time. Here are five easy tasks you can do that will help your family to save some money.
1) Check your pantry inventory
Do you remember that already forgotten food items that some time ago were bought and pushed straight into your pantry and never used? It is height time for you to use it. Take all the food items from your pantry and spend some time on reading their tags. Maybe here you will find some new, fresh recipes. If not, don‘t give up. Use some creativity of your own and surprise yourself. I am sure you will find the most original way to use these food items this week. You should also check your fridge- maybe there you will find some meals just waiting to be cooked. By cooking these old meals you will avoid buying new products this week. This will help to save some money on the food bill of your family.
2) Clean up your medicine shelf
I’m sure you have a shelf or two full of medicine at home. Each of us does. But despite of this, every time your child gets ill or just coughs you hurry to the next drugstore to buy some new stuff. Is that clever? What you could do is take some time to clean out the old and expired medicines. Next, put with care what is left back to the shelf. By doing this, you will avoid buying the same medicine you already have at home.
3) Clear up your closet
This one will help you not only to save money but time also! Open your family‘s closet and look carefully. You‘ve found some old forgotten clothes of yours, haven‘t you? Look more carefully- you will find some clothes that you and your kids will not wear anymore. While sorting through the closet try to find some new combinations of clothes, using pieces you already have. By combining your clothes into new original combinations, you will feel like having new outfits without buying any new ones.
4) Organize your coupons
While getting coupons, you probably use them for health and beauty products, taking your kids for some entertainment, haircuts, etc. Spend some minutes of your time by going through your coupons. Check them all and throw away the old ones. Be careful! Pay attention to those coupons, that will expire soon – pull them out. Put coupons in the most viewable way so as to remember to take them with you while going out. How can you save money with coupons when you don‘t find them when you need them or you miss the expiration date? I think the reason for organizing your coupons in obvious.
5) Sort out the toys you have
It will take you not more than ten minutes to go through the toys your children have. Separate the extra toys you are sure they won‘t even remember. You should donate them to charity rather then keep them in a sack somewhere in your basement. Pick out the playthings your children love but haven‘t played with in a while. Hide them in a place your kids couldn‘t find or reach. Next time your children are crying for a new toys, just take some from the hidden ones that they don‘t remember. You will get to see their happy faces while not spending a cent on a new toy.
Don‘t hesitate! Take the five ideas above into consideration, add some of your own, and you will easily save some money of your family. This will not take plenty of time, i promise.
